Hackers altered temperature controls at French blood-storage sites in wider European cyberattack wave

Hackers accessed control systems at three French blood-service cold stores and raised temperature and defrosting thresholds, but alarms allowed technicians to intervene before blood products were compromised. The affected facilities were operated by contractors, and products were moved while French authorities reinforced monitoring. The incident follows attacks on supermarket refrigeration systems across nearly a dozen European countries and a previous wave affecting hundreds of French stores. No culprit or motive has been established, though experts and officials are examining possible state-linked and criminal explanations.
