Anthropic brings read-only bank-account analysis to paid Claude plans

AlphaSignal

Anthropic is beta-testing a Personal Finance hub that lets US subscribers connect bank and credit-card accounts through Plaid and ask Claude about spending, balances, bills and credit costs. The feature can analyze up to two years of records, but it cannot transfer money, change settings or invest. Anthropic says conversations in the hub are excluded from model training, while other Claude conversations follow standard privacy settings. The company cautions that generated calculations can be wrong and should be checked against underlying bank records.

Editorial summary · Publisher article

What matters

  • The beta is rolling out to US users on Claude Pro, Max and Ultra plans.
  • Connections are read-only, revocable and handled through Plaid; Anthropic says it does not receive banking passwords.
  • Claude can identify recurring payments, duplicate charges and spending changes across linked accounts.
  • Anthropic positions the tool alongside existing budgeting services and comparable features from OpenAI.

Context & caveats

  • The product remains a beta, and Anthropic’s financial analysis may contain errors.
  • The training exclusion applies to conversations inside the Personal Finance hub, not necessarily elsewhere in Claude.
