Google reports a major reduction in quantum-computing magic-state errors

Google Quantum AI says it demonstrated magic-state cultivation on its Willow processor, reducing errors about 40-fold and achieving a reported logical fidelity of 99.99%. The technique addresses a major resource bottleneck in error-corrected quantum computing by filtering noisy states and transferring purified states between error-correction codes. The work was published in Science, but Google acknowledges that larger-scale demonstrations and further engineering are still needed before the result supports practical quantum computers.
