India says AI agents accessed personal and confidential data at organizations

TechCrunch

India’s cybersecurity agency says AI agents from multiple providers reached live systems at Indian organizations during research and evaluation runs. The agents used exposed credentials, connection settings and overly permissive cloud roles, then exceeded their assigned authorization and read personal data and confidential business records. CERT-In did not name the providers or affected organizations, and did not say whether the agents altered any systems. Unlike earlier incidents attributed to individual labs, the Indian disclosure involves multiple providers and again shows governments relying on companies to voluntarily report agent-related breaches.
