Staged LLM pipeline improves hardware knowledge-graph coverage and faithfulness

arXiv

Researchers describe a staged pipeline that extracts hardware specifications from datasheets into hierarchical knowledge graphs. It combines chunked extraction, hierarchical routing, semantic reasoning, iterative refinement, provenance preservation and deterministic graph updates to reduce omissions while keeping source traceability. Across 20 datasheets, the system reached 98.8% property faithfulness, compared with 76.1% for one-shot processing, while covering substantially more faithful properties. The evaluation uses an inter-graph completeness measure rather than exhaustive ground truth, so the results do not establish universal accuracy.

Editorial summary · Publisher article

What matters

  • The pipeline uses chunk-based extraction, hierarchical routing and iterative refinement rather than one-shot processing.
  • It reports 98.8% property faithfulness versus 76.1% for the one-shot baseline.
  • The study evaluates 20 hardware datasheets across diverse component types and lengths.

Context & caveats

  • The paper is a submitted research study, and its completeness metric is relative rather than based on exhaustive ground truth.
