Oracle beats earnings expectations as cloud growth drives heavy capital spending

Oracle reported fiscal first-quarter revenue of $19.35 billion, up almost 30%, and adjusted earnings of $1.92 a share, both above analyst expectations. Cloud infrastructure revenue more than doubled to $7.4 billion as the company expanded data centers for AI demand. That growth came with substantial financial pressure: quarterly capital spending reached $28.5 billion, free cash flow was negative $5.4 billion and debt stood at $125 billion. Management maintained its full-year capital spending guidance and said known construction issues did not undermine its forecast.
