Proofpoint links four hacking groups to a shared Chrome and Windows exploit chain

Proofpoint researchers say at least four hacking groups have used a similar exploit kit, named BlueMoon, chaining two Chromium flaws with a Windows kernel vulnerability. Ars Technica reports that patches had been released for all three. Researchers suggest attackers moved quickly to exploit delays between upstream fixes and browser releases. That explanation, including a possible role for AI-assisted development, is a hypothesis; the observed finding is shared exploitation across multiple groups.
